From Cape Town’s leafy suburbs to a one bedroomed home in the township of Gugulethu, Loyiso’s formative years encompassed the complete urban experience. Today, not only is he an extremely successful entrepreneur and social change agent but also a highly regarded Radio DJ and public personality. A co-founder of Blank Kanvas with his long time friend and venture partner, Vincent Manzini, Loyiso’s kaleidoscope of skills and qualifications include not only a BComm from UWC in Economics and Strategic Management but also 12 years of direct entrepreneurial and business management experience. This experience includes practical and successful stints in TV production (both behind and front of the camera), radio, senior management and as a driver of various successful ventures and social upliftment initiatives. Loyiso is also the founder and sole driver behind the inspirational and trendy “LOYD Sessions”. An acronym for Live Out Your Dreams, the Loyd Sessions bring together the cream of emerging urban talent and exposes them to individual thought leaders and successful personalities across a wide range of fields including business, entertainment, art and politics. A self described “serial do-er”, Loyiso is unsurprisingly as equally highly regarded within the townships as he is within the highest levels of metroplitan urban society and related business circles.
Born and bred in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, and now a true citizen of the broader urban world, Vincent combines his powerful entrepreneurial drive and experience with a deep formal and direct experiential understanding of marketing and markets within contemporary South Africa. Whether performing as a director of Blank Kanvas, pro DJ “SirVIncent” or co-driver behind his and Loyiso Mdebuka’s multiple community upliftment initiatives, Vincent brings an authenticity and energy to bear that has swiftly established him as an inspirational and popular social figure. In his own right he is a hugely respected opinion leader as well as powerful and authentic representative of the Urban market. Vincent has always focused on not only his businesses but also on dedicating time to improving himself as an entrepreneur. In 2010 he was selected to be part of the Raymond Ackerman Academy (RAA) for Entrepreneurs at the University of Cape Town (UCT) Graduate School of Business, where he graduated with a certification in Specialized Entrepreneurship. He also won the Best Business Plan Award at RAA. Furthermore, he recently graduated at the prestigious Entrepreneurship Programme at the Louis Group Business Academy through the University of Stellenbosch. In 2013 He was named as one of Khayelitsha’s 30 official ambassadors who have helped shape Khayelitsha with a population of 1,5 million people in the last 30 years of its existence to what it is today. A thriving community. Recently he was also named alongside Luvuyo Rani and Nick Kaoma as the Glenfiddich Maverick for 2015. Vincent is incredibly passionate about entrepreneurship and the role it has to play in unlocking the potential of South Africa as a nation.
